Community Fundraising Guidelines
Event Income & Expenses
Community fundraising events must be financially self-sustaining without contribution from or financial risk to Mary Cariola Center.
Mary Cariola will not solicit sponsors or auction items for your fundraising event.
Mary Cariola will only accept the net proceeds of a community fundraising event. Community event revenues and expenses cannot flow through Mary Cariola.
To reduce event expenses, we suggest seeking donated goods and services, and negotiating for discounts and reduced costs.
Please send a check made payable to Mary Cariola Center and mail to: 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Suite 100, Rochester, NY 14620.
Event Liability
The community event organizer is responsible for all vendor agreements, contracts, insurance and necessary permits for the event.
Mary Cariola will not assume any type of liability for a community event, including liability for any injuries sustained by community event volunteers or participants related to an event benefiting Mary Cariola Center.
Mary Cariola reserves the right to decline association with any person or organization at any time when it believes that such association may undermine or compromise Mary Cariola’s mission and values.
Marketing & Promotion
The community fundraiser must submit all publicity and promotional material containing Mary Cariola Center’s name and/or logo to Mary Cariola’s Advancement office for review and approval prior to publication and distribution of these materials. Please allow Mary Cariola staff ten (10) business days to review these materials.
The community fundraiser is responsible for its own marketing, including writing and distributing press releases (pending Cariola’s approval), Facebook postings, invitations, ads, etc.
Truth in Advertising Compliance
Type of Benefit ===> Description of advertising (all forms)
All funds raised to Mary Cariola ===> Proceeds to benefit Mary Cariola
Funds raised less expenses ===> Net proceeds to benefit Mary Cariola
Portion of Purchase ===> For every sale, ex. $20 benefits Mary Cariola
Percentage of Proceeds ===> State amount (ex. 10% of sales to Mary Cariola)
