Why We Walk

This month’s Guest Blogger is Mary Cariola Parent Reenie Ercan. She tells us why her family is participating in our 2021 Walking on Sunshine fundraiser on September 19. You can donate to their Baby Belugas Team HERE.

Why We Walk

Mary Cariola has provided us a central location for our daughters to receive the highest level of collaborative care.

This year we teamed up with another Mary Cariola family, the Bernards, and we are Walking on Sunshine together to raise funds, awareness, support our community and express our deepest gratitude toward Mary Cariola Center.

Our daughters, Yasemin Ercan, and Hannah Bernard were both born with neurological disorders and diagnosed with rare syndromes. Not only have they shared the Mary Cariola experience, they are hockey sisters too! They both have brothers named Noah who play travel hockey together. We wanted to incorporate the power of giving to the community and share in our gratitude of Mary Cariola with their hockey team/family!  This walk is not just about raising funds in support, it holds more value than that to us.

Mary Cariola has provided us a central location for our daughters to receive the highest level of collaborative care from dedicated staff who understand their individualized needs and can deliver them in a safe environment. Our daughters LOVE attending Mary Cariola.

We are grateful that we have an organization like Mary Cariola Center to care for our loved ones with disabilities, but have the ability to look beyond that. We are grateful to have the peace of mind knowing that individuals such as our daughters are surrounded with those with the same goals and objectives in mind. People who inspire each other to provide a unique experience that adds value to our daughters’ lives and others, while optimizing their potential and providing a fulfilling future with limitless possibilities.

What a great and easy way to support Mary Cariola Center by Walking on Sunshine with our families and friends while giving them the recognition they deserve.
