This month’s guest blogger is Michela Hanlon, a senior at Nazareth College. Michela has been a Mary Cariola Marketing Intern since January. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing next month.
When you hear of the Mary Cariola Center, you know that their value is quality-focused education for students with complex disabilities. As a senior at Nazareth College, I decided to embark on an internship experience at the Mary Cariola Center for my final semester of undergraduate studies. I was nervous about whether I would actually get the quality, hands on experience that I would expect pre-pandemic. This challenge did not stop the Mary Cariola Team from giving me a warm welcome and going to great lengths to make sure I would get the most out of this experience. Working as a Mary Cariola Center intern, has opened up a broad amount of opportunities, resources, and learning experiences that I can take with me wherever my future path leads me. I can surely attest you will not leave here empty handed. They offer a wide variety of internship opportunities including clinical interns, social work interns, marketing interns, and music interns. I was welcomed to Mary Cariola as an insightful member added to their marketing team. Mary Cariola provides their interns with every possible opportunity they can receive.
Three months into my internship, I can truly justify that every employee at Mary Cariola has a caring and ambitious heart to provide me with the experience I need to start my career. I cannot believe the amount of experience I have already gained. I have been involved with media buys, the Mary Cariola Radio Show, the creation of a television campaign, and have attended the Thrill on the Hill fundraising event. Thanks to Mary Cariola, I was fortunate to attend the National Safe School Reopening Summit, where I may have been the only intern invited to view the conference. I am always learning something new and have felt fulfillment after every completed project. I cannot thank Mary Cariola enough for allowing me to jump on every opportunity of the Marketing process and witness what it takes to make this organization successful and heartwarming.
Mary Cariola provides every opportunity for an intern to experience every aspect of what goes on in our organization. There is no doubt that every intern will walk away with the experience of success, challenges overcome, and new skills.
