Walking on Sunshine Event FAQ’s

When is Walking on Sunshine?

Walking on Sunshine is Sunday, September 27.  The location is Ontario Beach Park at the intersection of Lake and Beach Avenues.  Registration is at 9:30, Opening Ceremony is 10:15 and the Walk begins at 10:30.

How far is the walk?

You can choose to walk the shorter family friendly walk within the confines of Ontario Beach Park (about 15 minutes) or you can take the longer walk that takes you along Beach Avenue and turns down the city sidewalk along Lake Ontario (45 minutes).

Why form a team?

Walking with friends and family makes the event even more fun. Your team can be family, neighbors, co-workers or anyone who wants to support a great cause.    By forming a team you are creating awareness for Mary Cariola Children’s Center and you will be supporting 500 children and youth with complex disabilities.

Each ticket costs $10.00.  You could win a pair of Delta airline tickets OR a week at a breathtaking cottage on Keuka Lake.  You can purchase tickets online by clicking HERE.  Only 500 tickets will be sold so there is a good chance that none will be available on the day of the walk.

We will walk rain or shine, so plan accordingly and check the weather forecast the morning of the event.

Can I bring my pet to Ontario Beach Park?

Service animals are allowed but pets are not allowed at Ontario Beach Park’s swimming areas, beaches or picnic areas.  In addition, many children have sensitivity to or are fearful of animals.  We want to ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all.

Where do I bring donations on walk day?

Bring all of your donations to the Registration Area and we’ll take it from there!

Where do my donations go?

Mary Cariola works very hard to make the most of every donation.  Funds raised from this event will help purchase classroom supplies, equipment and support programs that do not receive any State funding, such as Music Therapy and Social Work.  Thank you for raising awareness and much needed dollars to help our children and young adults discover their lifelong potential.

I have a question about the event itself.  Who can I contact?
